Catholic Schools week activities

"Faith, Academics, Service" is the theme for Catholic Schools Week, which will feature observances and programs Sunday through Feb. 5 at schools throughout the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh.

At Holy Trinity School in Robinson, students and parents will participate in Family Faith Night on Wednesday, when they will prepare bags of supplies for donation to the Homeless Children's Education Fund in Pittsburgh. The bags will contain school supplies, gift cards for restaurants, and something special for the children.

Students at St. Malachy in Kennedy will attend a railway safety assembly, stage a talent show, participate in a service project, play buddy bingo, have a picnic with their families, play classroom games and watch the Civic Light Opera production of "Nellie Blye."

A book fair, science day activities, a paper plane challenge and science trivia are scheduled at St. Philip School in Crafton where activities begin with thanking the parish and a family fun night Saturday.

ROBINSON, WASHINGTON COUNTY

Energy project conditions revisited

Robinson, Washington County, supervisors are expected to review the conditions they placed on approval of the Beech Hollow Energy Project during a special meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the municipal building, 8400 Noblestown Road.

John Smith, township attorney, said Tuesday that developers Robinson Power Co. and Champion Processing Inc. have asked to clarify the wording on a few of the conditions. After the clarifications are made, the developers can accept the conditions or appeal.

When the two side-by-side power plants were approved Jan. 9-one fueled by waste coal and the other by natural gas-the developers were given 10 business days to agree to the 55-condition document. Mr. Smith said he has extended that period to 30 days to allow time to make the clarifications.

"I don't want there to be any dispute as to what it says," Mr. Smith said.
