Former Monroeville manager Jeff Silka will become the Robinson manager on April 1.

Mr. Silka, 46, recently resigned from Monroeville amid conflict with some council members over police employee decisions.

"I did negotiate a resignation from Monroeville, and I'm starting new in Robinson," Mr. Silka said today. "I'm excited to get there and look forward to meeting everyone."

Robinson commissioners voted 5-0 Wednesday night to hire him to replace Aaron Bibro, who has resigned. Salary was set at $83,500.

Chairman Samuel Abatta said the Monroeville situation did not sway his opinion that Mr. Silka is qualified to manage Robinson.

"He's a highly skilled individual, and he'll be a fantastic fit for us," Mr. Abatta said.

Mr. Silka, a certified economic developer with a master's degree in public affairs, spent six years as executive director of the Somerset County Economic Development Council. He has about 11 years of experience as a municipal manager, including in his hometown of Johnstown.
