Prestley Road detours in Collier to begin March 9

Plans to rehabilitate a bridge on Prestley Road will involve round-the-clock changes for motorists starting March 9.
The work is expected to continue through mid October.
The bridge, which carries Prestley Road over Chartiers Creek, is near the Thoms Run Road intersection in Collier.
Work will involve replacing the bridge deck and bearings, structural painting and roadway improvements.
To permit access to businesses and churches, the road will remain open with traffic reduced to an alternating single lane controlled by temporary signals between Thoms Run and the entrance to Journey Assembly of God Church and Cavanaugh Landscaping.
Prestley will be closed to thru traffic between Route 50 and the church entrance.
Southbound and northbound traffic that usually travels Prestley will be detoured along marked routes on Route 50, Millers Run, Presto-Sygan and Thoms Run roads.
According to PennDOT, 6,093 vehicles use Prestley in the affected area on an average day.
The project is part of a $1.6 million contract with Independent Enterprises, Inc. of Oakdale that also included replacement of the bridge that carries Presto-Sygan Road over Thoms Run.
That work was finished last year.
