North Fayette police Sgt. Mark O'Donnell is set to become chief on Jan. 1.

Supervisors voted 3-0 Wednesday night to appoint him at an annual salary of $95,700.

The township chose Mr. O'Donnell -- a 26-year veteran of the department -- from three internal candidates, Chairman James Morosetti said.

"We're glad he accepted the job," he said.
