A former Moon Area High School girl and her parents sued that school district in U.S. District Court Wednesday, saying students bullied her into a state of anorexia nervosa while administrators looked the other way.

The complaint, which does not provide the student's name, said she was physically abused by boys and girls alike in the halls, was the subject of widely shared and vulgar text messages, had her house pelted with eggs repeatedly, and was threatened with harm. Her repeated efforts to get administrators to address the problem, as well as efforts by her parents, prompted no real investigation or disciplinary action, according to the complaint.

The girl's resulting eating disorder and depression eventually required medical treatment, according to the complaint, and she had to continue her high school education elsewhere.

The district is the lone defendant, but the complaint by Sewickley attorney Peter H. Thomson accuses officials from guidance counselors and principals to top administrators of doing nothing about the abuse. Moon Superintendent Donna K. Milanovich could not be reached late Wednesday.
