With students preparing to return to the classroom Sept. 6, the Tiger Trail at Moon Area's high school/middle school complex is open to traffic.

Traffic patterns are returning to a clockwise course around the middle school. All traffic entering from University Boulevard must turn left and travel along the front of the middle school.

Vehicles cannot proceed straight to the high school building from University Boulevard, but must circle around the middle school.

Traffic from the bus parking area is one way from the parking area to University Boulevard.

The old high school entrance is closed. Students can cross Beaver Grade Road at the Tiger Trail traffic light. A crossing guard will no longer oversee the intersection.

District bus schedules will not be mailed home this year. Bus schedules can instead be accessed on the individual Edline websites for each of the district's seven buildings.

These sites can be found on the select your school drop-down list on www.moonarea.net.

In other news, the school board on Monday approved $4,000 in preventative maintenance services related to the fire alarm system at the newly built high school. This 12-month contract/upgrade to the school's system will be charged to the general fund.

During the brief meeting, which included executive sessions before and after, a television production handbook for 2011-2012 school year was approved.

A proposal from Civil & Environmental Consultants Inc. to provide geotechnical services related to a proposed additional maintenance facility was approved. The $1,400 cost will be charged to the capital reserve fund.

Baseball field site improvements at the high school were also approved. Nello Construction will change the pitcher's mound from clay to clay bricks at a cost of $1,026.25.
