Montour school board members tonight authorized Architectural Innovations LLC of Ross to prepare a design and bid specifications for construction of a second driveway connecting Clever Road with the high school campus in Robinson.

Superintendent Donald Boyer said the district must build a second road to comply with Robinson fire regulations, and to ensure that township code officials grant the high school a permanent occupancy permit and approve plans for a $55 million elementary school on the campus.

"If we're going to put another building on this site of any size, we're going to have to comply with that [township fire] ordinance," Mr. Boyer said.

The paved and lighted road will cost roughly $800,000, he said. The design cost was not established.

The board's vote was 7-1, with member Duane Faith voting no because the district hasn't yet finalized a contract with Architectural Innovations for the elementary project despite about seven months of negotiations.
