Allegheny County police homicide detectives said a man who was fatally shot in McKees Rocks early today was likely the victim of a robbery.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office identified the man as 19-year-old Scott King of Verona.

County police Lt. Andrew Schurman of the homicide unit said McKees Rocks police responded to a report of shots at around 1:50 a.m. and found Mr. King slumped over the wheel of a Toyota sedan in the 900 block of White Alley.

Mr. King, who was shot in the torso, was taken to Allegheny General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:28 a.m.

Lt. Schurman said the shooter fired five shots through the driver's side windows, shattering them. It's unclear if Mr. King was driving, but the car he was driving had drifted into a fence.

Police believe the shooting may have been connected to "some type of robbery involving drugs," he said.
