A Beaver County man was arrested today on charges that he shot an 8-year-old girl who was dressed as a skunk.

Thomas Grant, 24, of Rochester, was arraigned this morning on charges of aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and simple assault.

New Sewickley police were called to 376 Brewer Road shortly after 8 p.m. on Saturday for a report that a girl dressed as a skunk had been shot. Medics flew her to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, where she was still listed in critical condition today, New Sewickley police Chief Ronald Leindecker said.

Chief Leindecker said officers interviewed several witnesses before charging Mr. Grant. Online court records show that Mr. Grant posted $10,000 bail today and is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. Nov. 1.
