Police in Beaver County were searching Monday night for a teenager suspected of fatally shooting an Aliquippa man earlier in the day.
Aliquippa police, who are working with Beaver County detectives, announced Monday afternoon that they were seeking 18-year-old Javon E. Clancy, of Aliquippa, in the shooting death of 25-year-old Marquay Riggins.
Aliquippa police said they were called to the 300 block of Linmar Terrace about 12:50 p.m. Mr. Riggins, who was unresponsive when medics found him, died in the emergency room at Heritage Valley Beaver hospital moments after the shooting, said Beaver County Coroner Teri Tatalovich-Rossi.
Police said they later learned that Mr. Riggins and Mr. Clancy had been fighting. When the fight appeared to have ended, Mr. Clancy "pulled out a handgun and shot [the] victim at close range before fleeing the area," they said.
Police said they are considering Mr. Clancy "armed and dangerous" and are asking anyone with information to call the Aliquippa police at 724-375-6682 or Beaver County Detective Bureau at 724-773-8550.
Online court records show that Mr. Clancy was charged with attempted homicide in 2010, when he was 17, but prosecutors later decided not to pursue the charges.
Mr. Riggins had also been arrested several times. Online court records show that he was convicted of theft, drug possession and robbery in three separate incidents.
