A man already in jail on an assault charge was accused today of fatally shooting a man this summer during a robbery.

Christopher West, 18, of McKees Rocks, remains in the Allegheny County Jail while he awaits arraignment tonight on charges of homicide, robbery, conspiracy and a firearms violation in connection with the killing of Scott King, 19, of Verona.

Allegheny County police and McKees Rocks police were called to the 900 block of White Alley in McKees Rocks on the morning of June 15 for a report that a man was slumped over the wheel of a Toyota sedan.

They found Mr. King with a gunshot wound to the torso and medics transported him to Allegheny General Hospital, where he died.

Lt. Andrew Schurman said at the time that police thought the shooter fired five shots through the driver's side window. County police obtained a warrant today to arrest Mr. West in connection with the death.

Online court records show that Mr. West was arraigned early Wednesday morning on charges of aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and a firearms violation in connection with an incident that occurred in Pittsburgh on Tuesday. Details of that incident were not immediately available.
