Heidelberg will dedicate a state historical marker commemorating the Heidelberg Raceway on July 15 at 2 p.m. along Route 50 between the Walgreen's drug store and King's restaurant.

The racetrack, which closed in 1973, hosted several NASCAR races and was a favorite spot for local stock car races. The track was the site of the last big top show staged by the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus on July 16, 1956.

Borough manager Joe Kauer researched the racetrack's history and submitted the application to the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
