Former Seton Hall basketball forward Herbert Lee Pope Jr. was arrested Monday night after police say he brandished a handgun outside an Ambridge bar.

Pope, who turns 24 on Friday, arrived at the Colonial Bar and Grill Monday night with four friends, police said. When one of his friend's ID cards didn't scan correctly, Pope and his friends were asked to leave.

Pope then pulled a black .45 caliber handgun from his jacket in front of bar employee Paul Mason, police said. Mason went inside the bar and called police.

Charged Tuesday morning with simple assault and public drunkenness, Pope was released on $2,000 bail. A standout star at Aliquippa Junior-Senior High School, the 2012 Seton Hall graduate signed with an Israeli basketball team this summer.
