Development on fast track at former P&LE rail yard in McKees Rocks

The McKees Rocks planning commission Thursday night reviewed the initial site plan for a mixed-use-industrial park on a 30-acre site at the former Pittsburgh & Lake Erie rail yard along the Ohio River.
Craig Rippole, president of Trinity Commercial Development, presented a plan that calls for building an 81,000-square-foot-building to house light manufacturing, warehouse and office space.
The building will be constructed to Class A industrial standards, Mr. Rippole said, meaning that among other modern features it will it have higher ceilings and be able to accommodate bigger trucks than many older buildings in the Pittsburgh real-estate market.
Space in the building can be divided into 10,000 or 20,000-square-foot sections depending on the tenant's needs, he said.
Taris Vrcek, chairman of the planning commission, said the board will have a decision ready by Friday or at the latest Monday of next week for borough council to act on at its Tuesday night meeting.
