Bus wheels fall off on parkway; no injuries

No one was hurt, but two cars were damaged when wheels came off a Port Authority bus on the Parkway West on Thursday.
The 28X Airport Flyer was inbound near the West Busway off-ramp shortly before noon when the outer wheel on the left rear of the bus came off, authority spokesman Jim Ritchie said. As the driver tried to maneuver to the shoulder, the inner wheel in the same place also came off. Two cars collided while trying to avoid the debris.
The bus carried 25 passengers, who were transported on a replacement bus. The authority did not release the driver's name but Mr. Ritchie said he appeared to have done a good job getting the bus off the highway. The cause of the wheel failure was under investigation.
