A $2 million project to upgrade the interchange of Route 22 and Route 980-Potato Garden Road in North Fayette has begun, with closure of the bridge that carries a ramp from Route 980 to eastbound Route 22.
The bridge, which passes over the Montour Trail, will be closed through late August, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.
Access from Old Steubenville Pike to eastbound Route 22 will be maintained. Route 980 traffic going to eastbound Route 22 will be on a posted detour using westbound Route 22 to the Interstate 576 interchange for access to the eastbound side.
Traffic on eastbound Route 22 and Route 980 wishing to reach Old Steubenville Pike will detour east on Route 22 to the Noblestown interchange. The same interchange will be used for access from Old Steubenville Pike to Route 980, via westbound Route 22.
