Bears spotted in Moon, Etna

A black bear was spotted several times in Moon Township tonight.
An emergency dispatcher in Moon said the 350-pound bear was first seen around 5:35 p.m. at the Moon Plaza on University Boulevard.
Witnesses said the bear crossed the roadway onto the Robert Morris University campus before reemerging about an hour later in the township's Mooncrest neighborhood.
Moon police activated an emergency messaging service to warn residents that the bear was in the area. Police advise that residents should not feed or antagonize the animal and should stay far away.
Police notified the Pennsylvania Game Commission, marking the second time conservation officers have been sent out to search for bears in Allegheny County municipalities this weekend.
A much smaller bear was spotted in Etna Saturday morning.
Etna police said the 150-pound black bear was spotted on High Street around 2:30 a.m. No sightings were reported today.
