The Allegheny County medical examiner's office has identified a man whose dead body was found floating Monday in the Ohio River.

Medics pulled David Meredith, 50, of Ridgemont, from the river after two fishermen spotted him near Brunot Island in McKees Rocks about 2:15 p.m.

It was not immediately clear how Mr. Meredith died. Workers in the medical examiner's office said on Tuesday that they were waiting to receive the results of additional tests before they release the cause and manner of his death.

Allegheny County homicide detectives are investigating.
