A man already in jail on an assault charge was accused Friday of fatally shooting a man this summer during a robbery in McKees Rocks.
Christopher West, 18, of McKees Rocks, was awaiting arraignment Friday night on charges of homicide, robbery, conspiracy and a firearms violation in connection with the killing of Scott King, 19, of Verona.
Allegheny County police Lt. Andrew Schurman said police intend to charge two other people in connection with Mr. King's death but that they were not ready to release information about them.
County police and McKees Rocks police were called to the 900 block of White Alley in McKees Rocks on the morning of June 15 for a report that a man was slumped over the wheel of a crashed vehicle. They found Mr. King with a gunshot wound to the torso and medics transported him to Allegheny General Hospital, where he died.
Several anonymous callers told detectives that they suspected Mr. West was behind the killing. Witnesses later told investigators that Mr. West and two other teenagers stole a phone and began receiving text messages from someone listed as "SK" who told them he had marijuana to sell.
The three conspired to rob Mr. King and two of them fired shots before Mr. King crashed the car in which he had been driving, investigators wrote in a criminal complaint.
Court records show that Mr. West was arraigned Wednesday on charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and a firearms violation in connection with an incident that occurred in Pittsburgh on Tuesday. Details of that incident were not immediately available.
