West Mifflin police search for man in attempted bus-stop abduction

Police in West Mifflin are looking today for a man they believe attempted to abduct or assault a woman while she was waiting for a bus Monday night.
The 22-year-old woman, who KDKA-TV reported was pregnant, told police she was standing at a bus stop on Century Drive when a man walked up asking about the bus schedule, according to a police press release.
The woman told police she heard the man drive up and leave his vehicle in a parking lot next to the road and behind a dirt landscape mound.
After asking about the schedule, the man went back to his vehicle.
About a minute later, he walked back to the woman, grabbed her and placed something over her mouth with "an unknown liquid substance" on or in it, police said.
The woman was able to break free and run away.
Officers responded to the call shortly before 9:30 p.m. -- in less than two minutes -- at 2393 Century Drive, where the woman ran.
She was taken to UPMC Mercy for evaluation and reported no specific injury, police said.
Police described the man as white, between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-7 with a "husky" build. He has blondish-brown hair, a scruffy face and was wearing a green jacket with pockets on the front and possible blue jeans and a multi-colored hat, police said.
The woman told authorities she saw the man's car as he drove away and described it as a turquoise four-door "smaller, older 90's box type vehicle" with no hubcaps, police said.
Police have physical evidence of the liquid substance, which will be submitted to a crime lab. They are also trying to obtain footage from surveillance cameras in the area.
