A call on Wednesday of three women trapped on a peninsula in the Monongahela River turned out to be a false alarm.

The Adah Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call shortly after 6:30 p.m. that three women were trapped on a peninsula on the river near East Fredericktown Road near Fredericktown.

But fire fighters could not find anyone in trouble, a Fayette County 911 dispatcher said.
