A man found hiding in the closet of a Fayette County home where a woman was stabbed to death has been charged with criminal homicide in the killing.

Pennsylvania State Police have charged Henry Clay Crawford, 56, of Uniontown, with one felony count each of criminal homicide, burglary, and aggravated assault.

A 911 call was placed at about 3:50 p.m. Monday, when the caller saw a man forcibly break into the 326 Easter St. home of Lisa Faye Tupta, 49, according to a state police press release.

When state police arrived at the home in the Holiday Mobile Home Park, troopers said they observed a male holding a knife open a side door and then run back into the residence.

Troopers entered the residence and found Ms. Tupta unresponsive and bleeding severely from the neck and abdomen, state police said.

Troopers searched Ms. Tupta's home and found Mr. Crawford in a bedroom closet, state police said.

Mr. Crawford was taken into custody and treated for injuries at the Uniontown Hospital, police said.

A Uniontown Hospital doctor said Ms. Tupta died from stab wounds at 7:27 p.m. Monday, police said.

The Fayette County coroner's office said autopsy results would likely be available Wednesday morning.
