Allegheny County homicide detectives are investigating two shootings that occurred just 20 minutes apart in McKeesport, leaving a man and a teenage boy each in critical condition.
The man was shot about 1:05 a.m. on Pirl Street. Police found the 20-year-old shot multiple times in the driver's seat of an idling car that drifted backwards onto Versailles Avenue, county police Lt. Andrew Schurman said in a news release. The man was taken to a hospital and was not expected to survive.
About 20 minutes later and less than a mile away, a 17-year-old boy was shot multiple times while standing in his friend's first-floor apartment in the 1400 block of Union Avenue. Lt. Schurman said shots were fired through an open window. The boy was also listed in critical condition at an unidentified hospital.
Lt. Schurman said county police do not have a motive for either shooting but believe the shooter or shooters fled on foot.
