McKeesport firefighters this morning battled a blaze at a residence in the 2700 block of Palmgreen Street near Powderly Street.

McKeesport police said a second company had to be called in to try to douse the flames, reported at 8:54 a.m.

There were no reports of injuries.

McKeesport Fire Capt. James Shields said the fire was contained mostly to a bedroom on the second floor of the brick home.

Neighbors said the house is occupied by a woman and three children, none of whom was home when the fire ignited. The neighbors said firefighters rescued two dogs from the house.

About 9:45 a.m., an Allegheny County fire marshal arrived at the scene. Capt. Shields said no cause of the fire had been determined.
