The trial of two men accused of shooting and paralyzing a Clairton police officer last year will continue today, after one of the victims of the underlying home invasion finished her third day on the stand Thursday.

Emilio Rivera, 27, of McKees Rocks and Marcus Andrejco, 19, of Rankin are charged with breaking into a home in the 800 block of Miller Avenue in Clairton on April 4, 2011.

According to the prosecution, the men were seeking drugs and money. The woman who lived in the house testified before Judge Edward J. Borkowski that Mr. Rivera sexually assaulted her, after holding a gun to the head of her 4-year-old daughter and later sticking the gun in the woman's mouth.

She also testified that it was Mr. Andrejco who fired the shots at Officer James Kuzak as the intruder attempted to flee.

During a lengthy cross-examination by Mr. Andrejco's defense attorney, Ralph Karsh, the woman said that the description she initially provided to police -- that the shooter had short hair that was slicked forward -- could not possibly have been Mr. Andrejco, who has long hair.
