Pleasant Hills -- Preschool story time for children ages 31/2 to 5, including songs, a craft and a snack, will be held at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Dec. 18 at Pleasant Hills Public Library, 302 Old Clairton Road. No registration required.
Whitehall -- The organization of Baldwin Community Methodist Women will hold its annual homemade cookie sale from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Dec. 8 at the church, 5001 Baptist Road. Cookies will be sold for $8 per pound. Proceeds benefit missions for women, children and youth.
Dormont -- The Keystone Oaks Marching Band will hold its annual Christmas tree and wreath sale through Dec. 15 or until supplies last in the Dormont pool parking lot, 1801 Dormont Ave. Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekends and 4 to 9 p.m. weekdays. Prices for trees range from $25 to $65.
Whitehall -- The Sisters of St. Francis of the Providence of God are selling pumpkin spice, hazelnut and French vanilla coffee and hazelnut decaffeinated coffee during the holiday season in 12-ounce bags for $9.99. Bethel Park -- A craft and vendor sale will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Hamilton Presbyterian Church, 4500 Hamilton Road. Demonstrations, such as bow-making, will be held every 30 minutes. Bethel Park -- Compassion Connection is collecting new toys for its annual Toy Treasures program, which provides deeply discounted toys to the children of local needy families. Toys may be dropped off in the lobby of South Hills Assembly, 2725 Bethel Church Road, or at Hillcrest Christian Academy, 2500 Bethel Church Road. Parents can purchase presents for their children at 10 percent of the item's retail value. Deadline to register to shop is next Thursday. To register: 412-835-8900.
California -- California United Methodist Church will hold its annual homemade Christmas cookie sale at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at 227 Third St. A variety of cookies will be available for $12 per box.
Elizabeth Borough -- Elizabeth Baptist Church, 735 Bunola River Road, will host its 31st annual community Christmas carol festival at 7 p.m. Sunday. Those attending are asked to bring a canned good or non-perishable item to be donated to the food bank.
Green Tree -- St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic School, 915 Alice St., will hold a holiday craft show from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday that will include lunch, a bake sale and raffles.
Mt. Lebanon -- The Mt. Lebanon Winter Guard will host a pancake breakfast with Santa at 8 a.m. Dec. 8 at Mt. Lebanon High School, 155 Cochran Road. A winter carnival also will be held until noon that day at the high school. Admission: $8 for adults; $4 for ages 2 to 5; free for age 2 and younger. Tickets available at the door.
Munhall -- The 7th annual Holly Jolly Bazaar, featuring vendors and crafters, will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Messiah Lutheran Church, 4300 Main St.
Peters -- An annual tree-lighting ceremony and holiday party will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at Peters Township Public Library, 616 E. McMurray Road.
Scott -- A gingerbread house workshop will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Dec. 9 at Scott Township Public Library, 301 Lindsay Road. A milk carton base, graham crackers and candy will be supplied. Bring additional candy decorations.
Baldwin Borough -- An intergenerational book discussion and luncheon will be held from 11:30 to 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at Baldwin Borough Public Library, 41 Macek Drive. Mt. Lebanon -- The Mt. Lebanon High School percussion ensemble will hold holiday concerts at 7:30 p.m. next Thursday and Dec. 7 and at 2 p.m. Dec. 8. in Mt. Hugh Burns, a Dominican preacher, will conduct a parish mission titled "Get Real: Religion with Two Feet on the Ground" at 7 p.m. Saturday at St. Valentine Church, 2710 Ohio St. Subsequent talks on topics such as Christian joy and coping with anger will be held at the church at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, with a Mass at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
Peters -- Samuel Hazo, Pennsylvania's first poet laureate, will give a talk titled "Poetry in Public Speech" from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Peters Township Public Library, 616 E. McMurray Road.
