Mt. Lebanon -- St. Winifred Church Women's Guild will hold its annual holiday craft show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 20 in Benedict Hall, 550 Sleepy Hollow Road. Free admission.

Waynesburg -- Andrew Heisey, assistant professor of art at Waynesburg University, will present a collection of his work in an exhibit Tuesday through Oct. 19 in Benedum Fine Arts Gallery, Waynesburg University, 51 W. College St. A free reception will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday.

CHILDREN

Whitehall -- Local comic book author Carol Vicini and her white boxer Steel Dog will visit Whitehall Public Library, 100 Borough Park Drive, at 7 p.m. Oct. 8 to talk about "The Adventures of Steel Dog," a comic book series. No registration required.

CLASSES

Carroll -- The Primary Care Resource Center at Monongahela Valley Hospital is offering classes to stop smoking from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays in October. Classes will be held in the center on the fourth floor of the hospital, 1163 Country Club Road. Classes are free for center patients, hospital employees or anyone with a referral from a hospital-affiliated primary care physician. Fee is $20 for others. Register by Sept. 30: 724-258-1932.

COMMUNITY DAY

Monongahela -- Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church will hold its Ethnicfest from 11 a.m. to dusk Saturday and from noon to dusk Sunday at Chess Park off Route 88.

FOOD

Bethel Park -- Bethel Park Lions Club will hold its fall fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lions Park, 5757 Irishtown Road. Fish or shrimp dinners include coleslaw, french fries, macaroni and cheese, and water. Cost: $9. Takeout available. Hot dog dinner available for children. Proceeds benefit Lions charities.

South Side -- A food fair, flea market and bake sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 13 and from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 14 at St. John the Baptist Church, 109 S. Seventh St.

FUNDRAISERS

Bethel Park -- The Bethel Park Lions, wearing orange vests, will accept donations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 6 at South Park Shops. Proceeds benefit leader dogs and charities for those who are blind or vision-impaired.

Upper St. Clair -- Mt. Lebanon Village will hold its annual dinner and silent auction at 6 tonight at St. Clair Country Club, 2300 Old Washington Road. Information and tickets: 412-343-4054.

HOLIDAY EVENTS

Baldwin Borough -- Adults can register before Tuesday for the Baldwin Borough Public Library's haunted cemetery walk through Restland Cemetery from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 25. Cost: $15 a person. Register at the library, 41 Macek Drive, Room 115. Bus transportation from the library will be provided.

MEETINGS

Bethel Park -- An Alzheimer's CARE training workshop, hosted by Home Instead Senior Care, will be offered from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Home Instead Senior Care Center for Training and Education, 2000 Oxford Drive, Suite 415. The workshop teaches caregivers how to care for themselves and their loved ones.

Bethel Park -- Southwestern Pennsylvania Registered Nurses Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 16 at Hamilton Presbyterian Church, 4500 Baptist Road, to hear a speaker talk about treating cancer. All registered nurses welcome.

OUTDOORS

Bethel Park -- Friends of the Montour Trail in Bethel Park and in South Park, Jefferson Hills and Clairton will conduct a fundraiser for trail maintenance Oct. 13. Trail users are asked to bring pennies or other donations to collection spots at the Irishtown trailhead, Limestone trailhead or access road to Washington Road off Clifton Road. In case of inclement weather, donations may be brought from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to the access road to Washington School in Bethel Park and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to the Bethel Park-South Park Waste Water Treatment Plant parking lot, to Gill Hall Road in Jefferson Hills or to the Clairton Trailhead .

Carrick -- Oktoberfest, with German food and entertainment, will be held from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1628 Brownsville Road. Tickets: $10 per person. Reservations: 412-881-4404.

Jefferson Hills -- A fall festival will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 13 at Jefferson Hills Municipal Building, 925 Old Clairton Road.

PETS

Upper St. Clair -- People-friendly pets and their owners are invited to participate in the blessing of the pets at 2 p.m. Oct. 7 in the south parking lot of Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2040 Washington Road. Keep pets on leashes or in carriers, and bring proof of up-to-date vaccinations. If weather is inclement, the event will be held in the church gymnasium.
