Brentwood -- The Blairsville Community Concert Band will perform from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Aug. 18 outside the Brentwood Public Library, 3501 Brownsville Road.

Bethel Park -- A music and rib fest will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Aug. 18 at St. Valentine Church, 2710 Ohio St. All proceeds go to the capital campaign fund. Information: www.stvals.org.

Mount Washington -- A fundraiser to benefit the Dormont pool will be held from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the home of Pete Karlovich and Steve Herforth, 207 Bailey Ave. The party includes hors d'oeuvres, wine, dancing, a silent auction of artwork, a ticket auction and a tour of the home. Pleasant Hills -- Ten percent of purchase totals Aug. 18-19 at Five Below in the Southland shopping center on Route 51 will be donated to Pleasant Hills Public Library. To participate in this fundraiser, pick up a flier at the library, 302 Old Clairton Road. Also, coupons offering 25 percent off on Macy's purchases all day Aug. 25 can be purchased for $5 at the library. Proceeds benefit the library.

MEETINGS

Jefferson Hills -- The Jefferson Hills Recreation Board will host a coed adult softball tournament at 8:30 a.m. Sunday at the Andrew Reilly Memorial Field on Route 885. Food and raffle tickets will be available for sale. The tournament will benefit volunteer fire companies in the community.

SPECIAL INTEREST

Bethel Park -- State Rep. Matt Smith, D-Mt. Lebanon, is offering free shredding of documents for residents of the 42nd Legislative District from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 18 in the Independence Middle School parking lot, 2807 Bethel Church Road. Residents may bring unwanted personal documents.
