Canon-McMillan's Hall of Honor inducted two new members -- Anthony "Tony" Colaizzo and Arthur "Bucky" Maughan -- at Friday's Canon-McMillan [vs. Baldwin] football game at Memorial Stadium in Canonsburg. Both men are Canonsburg High School graduates.

Mr. Colaizzo is a longtime public servant. He served as tax collector, then mayor, of Canonsburg and was a state representative from 1989 to 1999. He is founder of the insurance firm Anthony L. Colaizzo Agency.

Mr. Maughan has made his name as a wrestling legend and an inductee in the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. He started as a student athlete at Canonsburg High School, where he won many titles. That took him through college, and eventually to his career as a coach. He is the winningest coach in North Dakota State University history with a career record of 467-157-13. He became a wrestling coach at the university in Fargo, N.D., in 1964 and retired in 2011. He was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, among many other organizations.

Gary Melan, Jim Bedsworth, Joe Minniti, Dave Koyro and Mary Beth Secleter coordinated the recent Mon Valley Bike Run & Block Party, which raised more than $8,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. All are from Belle Vernon.

More than 250 bikers attended, and the money collected goes to wishes for two local children who have life-threatening medical conditions.
