The South Fayette school board approved an agreement tonight with Raptor Technologies of Houston, Texas, for a school security system that requires all district visitors, including parents, to present photo ID.

The $9,010 RaptorWare software and equipment system will perform background checks and screen for sex offenders. The annual service fee is $2,592.

The system will be installed in all the schools and office buildings on the Old Oakdale Road campus.

Superintendent Bille Rondinelli said the cost was not budgeted and will be taken from the general fund.

"It is something we feel strongly about that would enhance our safety in the district," she said.
