South Fayette commissioners voted 5-0 tonight to approve a site plan for Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC to build an $18.5 million outpatient pediatric center at the Bridgeville interchange of Interstate 79.

The plan includes a four-story, 60,000-square-foot medical office building with access from Hickory Grade Road and Route 50. The facility will sit on 2.6 acres that UPMC has committed to buying from the township next to the former Star City Cinemas.

Approval tonight was subject to the township attorney's review of a proposed developer's agreement, which will be finalized before the land sale closing at the end of February, board President Deron Gabriel said.

The agreement is expected to include guidelines for UPMC making some payments to the township in lieu of taxes.
