Traffic restrictions and detours will be in effect tonight at the south junction of Interstate 70 and Interstate 79 in Washington County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced.

At 8 p.m., I-70 will be restricted to one lane in both directions at the interchange. At 11 p.m., eastbound I-70 will close, with traffic detoured via I-79 south to Laboratory and routes 40 and 519. Also at 11 p.m., the northbound I-79 ramp to westbound I-70 will close. The detour also is via routes 40 and 519.

All restrictions are to be lifted by 6 a.m. Friday. The restrictions are necessary for ongoing construction of a reconfigured interchange at the south junction in South Strabane.
