A "service of prayer and education" regarding the victimization of women will take place tomorrow at 7 p.m. in West Elizabeth United Methodist Church on Route 857, just south of Route 51.

The service was prompted by the case of a 19-year-old woman who disappeared from a bus in Washington, D.C., and eventually turned up, drugged and traumatized, at her family's home in South Carolina, said the Rev. Thomas Carr, pastor of the church.

"We are trying to develop a response to the hurts of women who have been victims of use and abuse in our community, recognizing that the church has not always had a good response. We want to change that and make a difference in our community," he said.
