A Munhall man was charged with homicide Sunday in the early morning shooting of a man in the driver's seat of his vehicle outside a strip club in the borough.

Allegheny County homicide detectives charged Paul Barone, 23, with shooting in the head John Hunter Sumpter IV, 32, of Wilkinsburg, at about 4 a.m. near Club Pink, which is located on East Eighth Avenue.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Detective Kenneth Ruckel, witnesses saw Mr. Barone fire shots following an argument outside the club. He got into an Audi containing two other men he had been with at the club but then jumped out when police gave chase. A surveillance camera from DiSalla's Pizza nearby showed a man in Mr. Barone's clothing firing a gun, the complaint said.

Mr. Barone ran into woods but was eventually apprehended by police on a hillside while crouched down hiding on a ledge, the complaint said.

Mr. Barone was awaiting arraignment Sunday night on the homicide charge and a separate weapons violation. He was previously convicted of receiving stolen property, according to the complaint.
