Pedestrian killed in vehicle crash in Pleasant Hills

A man died after he was struck by a vehicle tonight on Route 51 in Pleasant Hills.
The Allegheny County medical examiner's office confirmed the death but declined to release more information until workers there could confirm the man's identity and reach his family.
An emergency dispatch supervisor said the man was taken to Jefferson Regional Hospital shortly after the crash, which happened about 8:45 p.m.
Nearly two hours later, Route 51 remained closed in both directions for about a tenth of a mile between the Olive Garden and Chick-fil-A.
Allegheny County homicide detectives are leading the investigation.
