One hurt in industrial accident at Braddock steel works

One worker was flown by medical helicopter from the scene of an industrial accident at the Edgar Thomson Plant in Braddock.

An emergency dispatch supervisor said the incident was reported at 1:30 a.m. today at the site in the 1300 block of Braddock Avenue.

A statement from U.S. Steel described the incident as "a small localized fire."

The dispatch supervisor said the injured man was flown to UPMC Mercy, where U.S. Steel said he was evaluated and released.

U.S. Steel said operations at the plant "have not been impacted" by the fire.
