McDonald council members said tonight they will update the borough's civil service commission rules, which were written in 1988.

Police chief Mark Dorsey said he received a quote of $1,100 to review and revise the 25-year-old rules. Council president Marilou Ritchie asked for additional quotes.

In general, a civil service commission establishes qualifications for police and fire department jobs and tests applicants for positions and promotions.
