A man was flown to UPMC Presbyterian Friday after he crashed his vehicle during a police pursuit in Westmoreland County.

Thomas Hall of Greensburg was driving a Nissan Pathfinder erratically on Route 51 around 1 a.m., according to a release from state police.

When a Rostraver patrol officer attempted to stop Mr. Hall near a gas station, he drove away going the wrong way on Route 51 at a high rate of speed, police said. The vehicle then entered Route 70, crossed both lanes, crashed into the median, then rolled several times.

Mr. Hall had to be extricated from the vehicle. The roadway was shut down for over an hour, police said.

Police expect to file numerous charges.
