Man admits not paying tax on lottery winnings

A man who opted not to pay taxes on his Pennsylvania Lottery winnings pleaded guilty Friday to tax evasion and faces sentencing Feb. 15.
Sherman W. Friend, of the unincorporated McClellandtown community in Fayette County, was indicted in April for having other people cash in his winning lottery tickets in 2009 and 2010 to avoid paying taxes on combined income of about $481,000.
U.S. District Judge Arthur J. Schwab will decide his sentence.
