Letter to the Editor: Dormont, display snow rules

As a resident of Dormont, I continue to wonder why the borough isn't interested in enforcing its snow removal ordinance. Every time it snows, borough sidewalks remain covered and dangerous.
Certainly disabled people and the elderly should not be expected to remove snow from their walks; but there is no excuse for other residents, apartment owners, business proprietors and professional people for not doing so. During the week between Christmas and New Year's a lot of snow fell and many able-bodied people were off work for the holidays, but there was little evidence of shovels or snow blowers in action.
If a person falls on a snow- and ice-covered sidewalk and is seriously injured, the borough could very well be named as a co-defendant in any lawsuit that might be filed.
Since Dormont has a website, it shouldn't be too difficult for any borough official to write a presentation reminding everyone that snow removal from sidewalks is mandatory. If they are too busy or too disinterested to compose such an advisory, I'll do it for them at no charge.
