A fugitive who had been on the lam for more than a year was arrested today when Allegheny County sheriff's deputies found him hiding under the covers in a home in Clairton.
Deputies used a Taser to subdue Brian Berry, 24, of Homewood, when he refused to comply with demands to put his hands up, Sgt. Douglas Clark said.
The sergeant said Mr. Berry had been serving a sentence for a 2007 burglary in Brighton Heights when he walked away from the Renewal Center in August 2011.
Deputies found him at a home in the 6700 block of McKinley Street this morning after they unsuccessfully checked several other locations given to them by a tipster. Mr. Berry was taken to the Allegheny County Jail where he is expected to be held without bond.
