A former Forward Township police officer and his wife allege in a lawsuit that was removed to federal court today that two township supervisors targeted and defamed him because he wrote tickets for one of the supervisor's friends and employees.

Jason and Jamie Miller, of Belle Vernon, are seeking more than $25,000 in damages and alleging that supervisors Thomas Derosa and David Magiske violated Mr. Miller's right to due process when he was fired and defamed them.

The couple had filed their suit in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court and township attorneys, who could not be reached for comment tonight, asked that it be moved to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania because the case dealt with alleged civil rights violations.
