Clairton police are searching for a pair of gunmen who they believe fired 40 times at four homes early this morning.

The shootings were reported about 3:20 a.m., Clairton police said.

The homes struck by gunfire were on four different blocks: Baker Avenue, Waddell Avenue, Boundary Avenue and Holcomb Avenue.

Several people -- including a 5-year-old child -- were in the homes, but no one was hurt.

Investigators recovered a total of about 40 shell casings from the residences.

Witnesses said the gunmen wore ski masks. Police believe they may have driven to the locations and hit a parked car on Reed Street.

The investigation has been turned over to Allegheny County police, who could not be immediately reached for comment.
