Authorities have determined that a body found Saturday night in Ohiopyle State Park is that of a Somerset man missing since New Year's Eve.

Stacie Hall, assistant manager of the park, said the Fayette County coroner's office, after an autopsy, determined that the remains of Jeremy Walker, 29, were found by kayakers at a rapid called Double Hydraulic on the Youghiogheny River.

According to forensic pathologist Dr. Cyril Wecht, Mr. Walker's body was badly decomposed. He ruled the death asphyxiation due to drowning. The coroner's office said there was no evidence of foul play.

Mr. Walker's family had reported him missing New Year's Eve; his car was found in the park Jan. 2.

Ms. Hall said kayakers found the body about 7 p.m. Saturday at the high-water mark of Double Hydraulic.
