A state appellate court has upheld the dismissal of a veteran Bethel Park School District teacher accused of inappropriately touching 12-year-old girls.
Commonwealth Court on Monday ruled against the Bethel Park teachers' union and for the district in the long-running case of math teacher Michael Lehotsky, 51.
Several seventh-grade girls had complained that Mr. Lehotsky, a teacher in the district since the early 1990s, had rubbed their shoulders and touched their legs and hands while assisting them in his classes in 2008-09.
Diann Smith, president of the teachers' union, said she hadn't seen the ruling and wouldn't be able to comment until she talked to union lawyer Stephen Jordan.
