Allegheny County sheriff's deputies today captured a fugitive on their most wanted list, John Gilmore, 19, of Brentwood.

Mr. Gilmore was wanted on an Allegheny County Common Pleas Court bench warrant for failing to appear at a preliminary hearing Jan. 4 on charges of aggravated assault, burglary, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. He had been arrested by South Park police June 29 for allegedly breaking into a Parkford Drive home and assaulting man, who had injuries to his hands, shoulder and back.

When Mr. Gilmore failed to show up for his preliminary hearing on the charges, Sheriff William Mullen put him on the sheriff's most wanted list because of the violent nature of the charges. A tipster told the sheriff's office he could be found at a house in the same area, and he was arrested by deputies and South Park police today.

Mr. Gilmore is being held at the Allegheny County Jail until a new hearing can be held.
