A Mt. Lebanon house fire killed two people this morning, fire Chief Nicholas Sohyda said.
Crews were dispatched to 916 McNeilly Road about 7:20 a.m. The house was engulfed in flames, Mt. Lebanon deputy police Chief Mike Gallagher said.
The Allegheny County medical examiner's office identified the couple as Dennis Miller, 61, and his wife, Susan Miller, 56.
Neighbor Mary Sullivan lived next door to the Millers for more than 25 years and watched their two daughters grow up.
She said both husband and wife had health problems: Mr. Miller was on oxygen and, earlier this year, Ms. Miller suffered a broken bone.
"They were just getting back on their feet," she said.
Ms. Sullivan said she was at a nearby diner this morning when she saw emergency vehicles speed by, "never dreaming that it was next door," she said.
"I just can't believe it," she said.
Crews contained the blaze in about 20 to 25 minutes.
Fire companies from Dormont, Baldwin and Castle Shannon also responded.
The Allegheny County fire marshal is investigating cause and origin, but the fire is not suspicious, Chief Gallagher said.
The investigation is ongoing.
Joe Bobyn, husband of the couple's daughter, Kalna, said the family had no comment when reached by phone this afternoon.
