Suspected DUI crash kills man in Mercer County

State police in Mercer said alcohol appeared to be a factor in a fatal crash late Saturday in Lake Township, Mercer County.
Audra Leigh Brown, 32, of Surf City, N.C., was driving west on Fredonia Road at about 11 p.m. Saturday when she failed to make a sharp curve and her 2009 Honda Accord went off the right side of the road, crossed a field, spun and rolled over.
Ms. Brown's passenger, 27-year-old Jonathan D. Newcomb of Inez, Ky., was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene by Mercer County Coroner Robert Snyder. He was not wearing a seat belt, police said.
Ms. Brown was transported to Grove City Medical Center and then airlifted to Allegheny General Hospital.
Police said the investigation is continuing and that charges will be filed. They described the incident as homicide by vehicle while DUI.
