Springdale businessman sentenced to probation in worker electrocution

A Springdale businessman pleaded guilty today to willful violation of an occupational safety regulation that resulted in the 2010 electrocution of a man working on a Habitat for Humanity building.
Thomas C. Caruso, of Modern Painting and Decorating, was also sentenced today to a year of probation.
He had been scheduled to either plead or undergo a bench trial before U.S. Magistrate Judge Lisa Pupo Lenihan.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration fined Modern Painting $57,900 after the April 7, 2010, death of Paul Thompson, 48, of Pittsburgh.
Mr. Thompson was working too close to power lines.
