Shaler Township commissioners tonight awarded the contract for the Saxonburg Boulevard pump station to Meyer Excavating Inc. of Pittsburgh.

Meyer was the lowest responsible bidder for the $87,223 project. Work is expected to start in mid-November.

Another unanimous vote by the commissioners will allow the Shaler Township police department to begin publishing its police blotter on the township website at www.shalertownship.org.

The commissioners also agreed to ask for bids to replace the existing culvert as recommended by the public works committee. The culvert is part of the flood control levee near Burger King at the intersection of Saxonburg Boulevard and Route 8.
